The plate is a removable orthodontic structure made of soft plastic and metal wire. Fixed on the upper or lower jaw. These devices are installed faster and easier than braces. And addiction passes through a short time and with less discomfort. In most cases, plates are prescribed for children and adolescents.
Dental plates include 3 basic elements:
- body base made of special plastic or silicone.
- a metal arc that is fixed on the teeth. Due to the force of the wire, a correction occurs.
- a key that starts the plate into operation (the mechanism is hidden inside the structure).
Stages:
1. Primary consultation of an orthodontist, who identifies bite defects and teeth position, determines the method of treatment.
2. Next, computed tomography is performed.
3. Removal of casts from the jaw for a plaster matrix.
4. Direct production of an individual plate.
5. And, finally, the installation of orthoconstruction. The procedure takes up to 10 minutes, most of the time is spent on fitting the structure to the patient.
6. The doctor explains how to properly care for the record and schedules the next visit.
