     Professional teeth cleaning (tartar removal) is an obligatory stage of oral hygiene.  A toothbrush and other special appliances used at home are not enough to thoroughly clean the interdental spaces.  Regular visits to the dentist can prevent the development of caries, periodontitis and other gum diseases.  To prevent the occurrence of various dental diseases, it is recommended to have professional teeth cleaning 2 times a year.

    Stages:

 1. Removal of hard plaque with an ultrasonic device.
 2. To effectively clean the interdental spaces and the surface of the tooth from pigments and plaque, the Air-Flow method is used.  Enamel is gently cleaned with a jet of a special aerosol.  This procedure is absolutely painless.
 3. After cleaning the surface of each tooth, they are polished with special pastes.

Preventive procedures at OCTA Dental:

 

1. Scaling (tartar removal)

Scaling is a procedure designed to remove hard tartar deposits from the surface of the teeth. It is carried out using an ultrasonic (scaler) or manual (curette) tool. During the procedure, the device may emit a light but unpleasant sound and a very large amount of water. After the end, tooth sensitivity may appear for up to 3-4 days. To reduce it, it is recommended to protect the teeth with fluoride. The procedure is not painful. It lasts from 20 to 40 minutes. Tartar removal always ends with teeth polishing.

2. Sandblasting ("Air Flow")

Sandblasting is a procedure used to remove enamel deposits and discoloration from coffee, tea, and smoking. It is carried out using an Air-Flow sandblasting machine. Sandblasting sand (in the form of powder) is fed to the tip (nozzle) by a jet of water and air under pressure. The procedure is painless for the patient. It lasts from 15-30 minutes. depending on the amount of sediment. After sandblasting, you must follow a white diet for the next 48 hours. What does it mean? You should refrain from smoking, drinking coffee, tea, wine and other dyes (due to the risk of discoloration on the surface of the teeth).

3. Polish

This procedure is performed after brushing your teeth. It is the finishing stage and allows you to return your teeth to their natural color and beauty. The surface is treated with a special abrasive paste with nozzles - strips, rubber cups, brushes, etc. This allows you to grind all planes, including the interdental spaces and fissures. The dentist applies an abrasive to the working area and then polishes the surface, going over the entire tooth row.
